1972 Chevy C30 – Cooper Hukill

Chris Hukill and his son Cooper Hukill have been working together on this wonderful 1972 Chevy C30 Pickup Truck. You may remember Chris’s 2019 Mustang, which you can read about here.

As a father and son project, Cooper Hukill seems to be taking the initiative and really doing a great job on his 1972 Chevy. Scroll down to read about it and make sure to go to the bottom to see the pictures.

What stage is this in?

Somewhere between complete and not sure if it will ever get finished

When did you purchase it and for how much?

Purchased it Oct 2019 for $8000 it’s about 80% complete

Why did you choose this vehicle?

My son and I love older model vehicles and I wanted to have a project vehicle for us to work on together and couldn’t pass up this truck

What sort of condition was it in when you started the project, what was wrong with it, etc.

We were told it was 95% done but found out it had a few more issues, It’s about 80% done. Brake lights and tail lights Aren’t working, brakes need to be redone, needs new power steering, needs A/C and heating…

What, specifically have you done, or had done to it?

We have replaced the filter and valve covers with Edelbrock, added front and rear bumpers, added weather stripping, replaced wiring harness to rear lights and brake light switch(still not working). We have fixed a leak in oil pan by replacing seals

Where have you purchased your parts?

Front and rear bumpers from Brothers, air filter and valve covers from summit, wiring harness from brothers, weather stripping from parts geek…

What about you?

Cooper is 15 years old and is an amazing young man. He has a huge heart and wants to help everyone. He’s a baseball player since he was 3 and took up Football in 8th grade and 9th grade. He loves cars/trucks from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. He’s not scared to get his hands dirty and is going to take AG-Mech in School to learn more about working in vehicles

Any stories regarding this project?

We have had a blast working on it and haven’t even let the brake lights not working frustrate us…. yet
