As I write this out, I am aware that there are those who may read this who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I implore you to start by reading my article, Restoration and make a decision. If you don’t think you need to hurry, or you have plenty of time, please consider this article, I’m going to fix it, someday.
Breakthrough ministries is a place for men to learn about God, Jesus and what it means to be a biblical man. This ministry is a part of the Customs N Classics blog.
Having struggled with addictions and depression, (Attempted suicide and just feeling depressed.) I realized that I had never learned how to be a man.
My biological father decided to remove himself from my life at a very young age. When I was 2 years old, he chose suicide as his only way out. Apparently, he had no more hope and did what he thought was right, in his own eyes, leaving me fatherless and with no guidance with which to navigate this world.
At 18, I joined the Army and was expected to act like a grown man, like a responsible adult. I was trained to shoot a weapon and be a soldier, however, no one ever actually explained what it meant to be a man. I was expected to figure it out on my own.
I have struggled through Suicide attempts, depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual addiction, smoking and many other things that brought out addictive tendencies, in an effort to find my way.
I searched many different religions and world structures, I even tried different careers. Nothing I ever tried brought peace or made me feel like I was doing the right thing.
I began to learn what being an adult meant on March 15, 1997, when I accepted the work Jesus did on the cross to save me from eternal damnation, but, this still didn’t bring me close to what a real man is. (If you would like to know what this is, click here.)
It has only been the last 8 years, or so, that I have begun to learn what a real man is and how to become one. (Spoiler alert; It is a lifelong process that can only begin when we let God begin to take us through the process. Don’t think you need to worry about this yet? Please click here.)
My goal in this ministry is to create a place where men can go and begin the process. To get confirmation, if needed, or to get tools and encouragement as well. A place where you may find a book to read, a site to go to, or a challenge to complete, all with the idea that your journey is never complete, until your last breath and you awake in front of Jesus Himself.
